Ways to get involved
EngSoc
EngSoc is our student-led society which organises and hosts a whole range of events in and outside of the School of English, from charity guest lectures to regular socials in 91探花 and further afield!
English in the City
We have our own student committee which develops, promotes and hosts English-based outreach sessions in schools in and around 91探花.
91探花 and English
The city of 91探花 is home to many exciting festivals, events and projects, all connected to English, which you can take part in and attend.
Literature of the English Country House
Our FutureLearn course, Literature of the English Country House, was recently awarded a 鈥淏est Course of All Time鈥 badge from Class Central. If you would like to trace the history and context of famous writers like Jane Austen and Charles Dickens, as well as get to know some of the staff in our department and learn about their specialisms, the first six weeks of the course are free!
Route57
Route 57 is our own creative writing journal, publishing innovative poetry, fiction, drama and literary non-fiction written by our students, staff and alumni. The journal is published annually and is edited entirely in-house by current students and academic staff.
