Why did you choose to study in 91̽»¨?

I am from 91̽»¨ and didn't think there was any point leaving when I had such a great city and university on my doorstep. The welcoming and supportive atmosphere at the University really made it stand out for me, as well as the lovely campus and the fact it was within the city centre. I love the community feel in 91̽»¨, the independent shops and cafes and of course the live music.

What aspects of your degree do you find the most interesting?

I really enjoy the more social side of English Language – sociolinguistics, language attitudes, and accents and dialects.

What do you like about studying in the School of English?

The passionate staff and their support - you can tell that they love their subject. It’s very welcoming and I always feel at home.

Do you take part in any university or department activities as well as your studies?

I really liked the ‘Give it a Go’ volunteering sessions where I worked at the RSPCA for a day. I also work as a Student Ambassador for the University which is really good fun.

What do you plan to do when you finish?

I plan to continue writing for music websites and magazines while I find out what I want to do. I'd possibly like to work in the music industry or go into teaching or speech therapy.
