The China-UK Perspectives Photography Competition: Growth
The Confucius Institute at the University of 91探花 is delighted to host its next annual photography competition with the theme: Growth. It is the SCI’s mission to promote cooperation and understanding between China and the UK, and this year we’re very excited to explore the theme of friendship in a spectrum of five categories - Nature, Community, Culture, Well-being and Innovation. We invite all friends across China and the UK to submit photos associated with these themes so we can celebrate the bond between China and the UK together.
Participants are invited to submit up to five of their own photographs in each of the following categories (1 photo per category). Participants are also asked to include a short title and description (up to 200 words) along with each photograph, to explain how the photograph came about and what it means to you. Submissions can explore nature, people, urban spaces… Anything as long as they justifiably relate to the chosen category. The five categories are:
- Nature
- Community
- Culture
- Well-being
- Innovation
Participants: The competition is open to ALL – anyone aged >18 can take part!
Deadline for submission: Friday 28th March 2025
Judging: A judging panel chosen by the organisers will judge the photographs and winners will be announced on Friday 4th April 2025. The winners will also be contacted after this date regarding prizes.
Prizes: Amazon E-vouchers will be awarded to 3 x winners in each category; ?30 for 1st place, ?20 for 2nd place and ?10 for 3rd place. There will also be a special 1st prize for the overall winner of all categories totalling ?50!
Exhibition: The SCI plans to launch a special online exhibition where all submitted photos can be viewed. The Exhibition launch will take place on Thursday 24th April 2025
Requirements: JPEG only, original photos, no watermarks. Each photo must include a title/name and a short description, max. 50 words for each photograph (in English).
Submission: Please submit your photos, along with the required titles and short descriptions to confucius@sheffield.ac.uk.
Please note: Participants can choose which categories to submit a photo in and do not need to submit a photo in all five categories to participate. It is each participant’s responsibility to ensure that any entry submitted is his or her own original work.
91探花 Confucius Institute maintains the right to make public any entry submitted into the competition either in part, parts or in full.
