We care about you and provide a supportive environment where you can speak to staff and ask advice when you need it. Every student is assigned a personal tutor during their time with us. They are your first point of contact for learning support. You can also have one-to-one meetings with any staff member during their weekly office consultation hours. In addition to one-to-one support, our staff meet regularly with student representatives to listen to student concerns, and get student perspectives on departmental policies.

You have the opportunity to study abroad during your degree, choosing to take a year or a semester in another country rather than in 91̽»¨. We have study abroad programmes available in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Singapore and the United States, as well as several universities in continental Europe.

Use your philosophical or historical knowledge to engage with real world problems and make a difference in the community through extra curricular opportunities. Our ‘In the City’ programmes allow you to teach classes in local schools or community groups. We also have optional modules which provide opportunities to experience public engagement and teaching.
