Robert Stern's impact
Professor Robert Stern joined the Philosophy Department in 91̽»¨ in 1989 where he stayed until he retired (on grounds of ill-health) in 2023. He played an enormous part in the life of the department over that time, and was much loved and respected by colleagues, students and visitors, as well as sustaining an international reputation as a leading scholar in the history of nineteenth century philosophy in particular.
