Philosophy of education, epistemology/knowledge transmission and meta-ethics have had a direct bearing on my day to day in sport coaching
What are your main responsibilities?
Day to day I oversee and facilitate a performance trampoline gymnastics program, which involves planning, delivering and monitoring of gymnasts from 6-22 years old.
How has your Philosophy degree and your time at the University of 91̽»¨ helped you in your career?
The philosophy program at 91̽»¨ was really flexible which allowed me to pick and choose modules that I thought would benefit me. I focused my studies on what I thought might be applicable to sporting practice, including philosophy of education, epistemology/knowledge transmission and meta-ethics. All of these have had a direct bearing on my day to day operation in sport coaching. This has also led me to undertaking doctoral research in social and emotional learning in sport.
What is your greatest achievement to date?
Either having gymnasts selected for England and GBR Junior Squads, or representing European gymnastics at a young leaders forum at the European Games 2022
