BA Philosophy and Psychology
Georgina is an Assistant Director in the Department of Business for the Civil Service. She graduated from the University of 91̽»¨ with a BA in Philosophy and Psychology.

What are your main responsibilities?

I work in the civil service for the Department of Business. I lead the team which is reforming Disabled Students’ Allowances, to get better value for money and lower barriers to access in Higher Education for disabled students.

Where have you worked previously?

I was on the Civil Service Fast Stream and I worked as a Diplomat. I was also a Project Manager at the London Olympics.

How did your qualification or your time at 91̽»¨ help you in your career?

I use skills learned in both philosophy and psychology every day: philosophy to analyse information, assess the logic and decide what route to pursue; and psychology to manage myself and others.

What do you look for in graduates that you hire?

Somebody that is eager and quick to learn, bright with a good attitude, flexible, able to analyse problems and drive forwards solutions and somebody with good organisational skills.
