Rajanya completed her PhD in 2023 in International Development at University of East Anglia, UK. For her thesis, she enquired into the class dynamics of agrarian change among Adivasis or indigenous people in India, studying their differentiated livelihood conditions and strategies, dispossession and politics. Prior to her doctoral work, she worked at Centre for Equity Studies, a human rights NGO in India, researching social inequalities, land dispossession, social and ethnic conflicts, and labour rights in India's informal economy. She has an MA in Development Studies from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, India.
