The Centre for Criminological Research Visiting Fellow Scheme

Off

CCR welcomes applications to our Visiting Fellow Scheme (VFS). The aim of the scheme is to foster knowledge exchange and research collaborations between CCR members and suitably qualified scholars from other universities, research institutes or civil society organisations in the UK or overseas. This scheme is available to individuals of all levels of seniority and experience, who wish to give seminars or lectures, pursue a programme of research, forge working relationships with potential research collaborators and contribute to other aspects of the life of CCR.  CCR is one of the oldest criminology centres in the UK and Visiting Fellows (VFs) would be welcomed into our vibrant research community.

Whilst applications are invited from visitors within any field of criminology, preference will be given to those whose research interests are most closely matched with staff in CCR.  Whilst visiting CCR, scholars will be provided with a workspace and IT support. In order to fulfil the key objectives of the VFS, we would expect VFs to give at least one seminar whilst they are here, as well as contributing to other aspects of CCR, such as attending our regular informal and public seminar series.

Please bear in mind that it can take up to two months for the University to approve academic visitors, so it will be necessary for visitors to plan their trip as far in advance as possible. Such forward planning will also be necessary so as to fully integrate academic visitors into CCR e.g. through them giving a seminar, which are planned a year in advance.

Prospective applicants should send to Professor Layla Skinns (L.Skinns@sheffield.ac.uk) their full contact details, a curriculum vitae and covering letter setting out the proposed programme of work whilst in 91̽»¨, including information about dates of the proposed visit, research programme and research interests, and scholars to be visited. Fellows will also need in due course to complete the University's form to be a visiting academic.
