Before you get started with coaching, I am sure that you have a few questions. Here are some of the most common ones that I get asked.

If your question is not answered here, please get in touch: fourhatscoaching@gmail.com or through messanging my through my Facebook Page – here.

What is coaching?

Primarily, when coaching I focus on where the client wants to focus: Your goals become my goals. In order to be successful at anything, you need to do some personal work. Don’t be shocked if you get some homework, which you may accept, reject or negotiate at the time. Big hint, your progress is often determined by your willingness to participate.

What kind of questions or situations do people bring to you?

People come to me for a variety of reasons with a number of different questions or help with a variety of situations. Many times they are mixed up about what they want in life and I have a way of getting to the heart of the issue and the ability to understand the “essence” of someone. I help them get clarity on what’s really important to them, what matters and what is vital to maintaining their integrity. I do not force people to just put on a happy face and everything will be good from now on. Many of my clients come to me feeling down and hopeless.

It certainly is not all doom and gloominess with clients. I have had clients wanting insights into the unknown. Looking for more certainty moving forward with their ideas. I have a knack of seeing patterns and connecting the dots which helps clients see what changes would have to happen for a successful outcome.

One of the most common comment I get from clients is how easy it is to talk to me. I am very empathetic, perceptive and my warmth tone of voice (I don’t hear it – LOL) makes them comfortable to share problems and struggles.

Do you have examples of some questions or situations?

Here is a list of those that seem to show up the most:

  • I am feeling alone and often misunderstood
  • I am so frustrated with life right now and need to get unstuck.
  • I need to do some creative brainstorming
  • Work right now is painful and I can’t get motivated to go there anymore.
  • Can I talk to you about something that I am struggling with at the moment?
  • I am having trouble knowing what really is important in my life right now.
  • I have tried so many things and nothing seems to be working.
  • What is my purpose anyway, why am I here?
  • My career is going nowhere and I am not sure on the direction I should go.
  • I am not free to be who I want to be.
  • I can’t seem to connect with my spouse, co-worker or boss can you provide some insights to why?
  • I am having communication issues.

As you can read, there are a number of different situations and questions that I as your coach can help you with. Ask away!

I have done well to date, why would I need a coach?

No one NEEDS a coach, however many would like to have one. One of the biggest reasons is the complexity and chaos of our everyday life. It’s just not as simple as it was in the past. Back in the day, your folks might have been very happy to have a job that paid the bills and provided the necessities. Most people today, I find want a career that is not only personally fulfilling, it is also financially awarding too. Aligning with their core values, following their purpose and expressing who they are really are at the top of the list.

If you are not doing what you love to do, regardless of your success, you can benefit from some coaching. If you are looking for some direction and boost, like I did then you can also benefit from some coaching.

Coaching accelerates the process, so hang on!

Can I just do this on my own?

No doubt you can. There are many free help offered, resources and even online coaching sessions. My question to you is, why have you not gotten the results that you want now?

I was taught that if I worked hard I would find success. It was not about being happy doing what you do for a living, it was about title, money and stuff. Have all that and you would be happy. So, why was I not happy?

Athletes know this very well, so do CEO’s and other leaders in organizations, that they can’t do it on their own. They have hired coaches to provide direction, objective support, feedback and accountability. Key ingredients to achieving excellence.

What does it cost?

A blender costs money – personal development is an investment. All joking aside, yes there is a price to pay. Everything has a price. That price you pay could be in the form of money, time, relationships, or your happiness. In fact, you already have paid the price for every decision/choice you have made up to this day. Looking around you right now.

Male Shows Empty Pockets Moneyless Concept

Sorry for being harsh. Point being, you have sacrificed yourself for others and it is time for you to do something for you. You can’t help or be anything to anyone else unless you look after you first. There is a good reason that you must put on the oxygen mask first, before placing it or helping anyone else put theirs on.

I don’t want cost to be a barrier to you. Just the way you view or value money might just be a good reason to hire me.

Most of my clients find my rates cheap for the value that they get and the time that I put in. Most clients over the coaching term, invest between $200 and $1000. The number of sessions within the term is dependent on the client. It’s about the cost of a good weekend workshop, only you get only one on one time and personal attention to your goals.

Besides the first one is free.

How long must I commit to when hiring you?

Typically it takes about four sessions on average to see results and anchor the start of developing good habits. A lot depends on you. Some clients like weekly sessions, others monthly. Other clients hire single sessions on a needs by needs bases. I tell my clients, as much as I like you and love working with you, you have hired me to fire me. I will continue to work with you as long as it is working for you.

Will you make be do something I really don’t want to do?

No. You are always responsible for your own life and ultimately make your own decisions and take your own actions. I am there for positive support, encouragement and accountability to keep your integrity. I may at times, challenge your thinking, your paradigms and provide you with what I have learned through my own experience. That is part of the process, but as your coach, I do not in any way control your thoughts, actions or your life. YOU DO.

As Einstein as been quoted many times: The thinking that got us the problems today, can not be the same thinking that gets us out of them.

That’s coaching in the nutshell. Looking at your life from a different point of view. Coming up with different solutions to produce different results.
