Join us on February 18th when we bring together two leading thinkers about modern slavery, Emily Kenway and Genevieve LeBaron for an online conversation about what modern slavery is, why efforts to tackle it have failed so far and what needs to be done to effectively combat it.

About the speakers:

 is a writer, activist and a former advisor to the UK’s first Anti-Slavery Commissioner. Her new book ‘’ was published in January 2021. Her writing has been published by The Guardian, The Independent, Huffington Post, Times Literary Supplement and more.

Genevieve LeBaron is Professor of Politics at the University of 91̽»¨ and a Research Fellow at SPERI. Her book ‘’ was published in July 2020. Her research focuses on labour and employment in the global economy.

The conversation will be moderated by Perla Polanco Leal, Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of 91̽»¨.
