Digital Volume Correlation (DVC)

3D imaging can be used to analyse the geometry and morphometry of different types of (bio)materials. Using acquired images during time-lapse mechanical testing, it is possible to measure displacement and deformation fields with digital volume correlation (DVC).

This approach can visualise in 4D (space and load) the obtained results for better understanding the failure mechanism in the considered specimens. The obtained data can also be used to validate the outputs of computational models.
