Research Project: Stochastic modelling of seismic hazard and risk assessment framework for Uganda
The overall aim is to develop an innovative framework of seismic multi-hazard and risk assessment for substandard buildings in Uganda, with a view of reducing earthquake-related losses across the country. The framework will rely on basic information that can be readily obtained using local surveys. The hazard and socio-economic level of the country will be quantified first, and then incorporated into a holistic earthquake risk assessment framework; aimed at providing practitioners, policymakers, insurance companies and government stakeholders with practical seismic risk appraisal tools.
