- Profile
-
Fran became a Research Associate in drinking water quality and biofilm management in 2019, following the completion of her PhD researching the impact of assimilable organic carbon (AOC) within operational drinking water distribution systems.
Fran has worked on a number of research and industry funded projects which have focused on how to monitor and manage the microbial quality of water from the water treatment works to reaching the customers tap. Fran has continued to explore the relationship between AOC, microbial growth and drinking water quality within drinking water distribution systems.
More recently, Frances led the operation of the full-scale drinking water pipeline test facility at the University of 91̽»¨, to explore the impact of intermittent water supply on drinking water quality.
Fran is currently working on the research project ‘’ which will, for the first time, study and model the impact of disinfectant residual strategies on biofilms including pathogen sheltering, proliferation and subsequent release.
