Profile

I am a Research Associate in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering and a member of the Energy 2050 Centre at the University of 91̽»¨. I completed a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Sussex in 2018, with my final year project focused on investigating the laminar burning velocity of GEMW (Gasoline, Ethanol, Methanol, and Water). During my undergraduate studies, I gained valuable hands-on experience through summer internships in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

In 2019, I earned a Master of Science (MSc) in Mechanical Engineering from University College London (UCL), where I received the IMarEST Best Project Award for my research on fuel injection systems for cross-flow applications.

I completed my PhD at the University of 91̽»¨ in 2023, focusing on low-carbon biofuels with an emphasis on optical and numerical analysis of combustion performance. My PhD research involved the application of advanced laser diagnostics to study combustion and emissions characteristics, contributing to the understanding of sustainable fuel performance. During my PhD, I presented my findings at leading conferences and worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, earning an Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) in 2023.

In 2024, I rejoined the University of 91̽»¨ as a Research Associate, focusing on energy system modeling and combustion studies for renewable DME (rDME) and Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF). My current research combines experimental and numerical methods to drive advances in low-carbon energy systems.

Research interests

My research focuses on the production, optimization, and combustion analysis of low-carbon fuels, with a focus on renewable dimethyl ether (rDME) and other biofuels to advance emissions reduction and support clean energy initiatives. I utilize process modeling tools, such as Aspen Plus, and perform technoeconomic assessments to evaluate the feasibility and efficiency of various fuel production processes.

My work also involves combustion studies on biofuels and sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). I employ advanced optical diagnostics, including particle image velocimetry (PIV), planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF), laser-induced incandescence (LII), chemiluminescence, and soot pyrometry, to investigate combustion phenomena. These experimental studies are complemented by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and chemical reaction modeling using tools like COSILAB and CHEMKIN.

Furthermore, my research extends to areas such as turbulent combustion, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, multiphase flows, gas turbine applications, and energy systems. My work on biofuels also includes the development of optimization techniques and technoeconomic assessments for biofuel production, contributing to the advancement of sustainable fuel technologies.
