This is a four year appointment: the first two years in the role are as Vice-Chair and conference planner, while the second two years are as Chair, a role that involves setting the priorities of the Division and sitting on the executive board of the International Communication Association, the largest in the field of communication research.

This is an exciting opportunity for me to contribute to making ICA, the largest international association for the study of communication, more global and more inclusive to the needs of scholars outside the predominant centres of knowledge production.

Too often research about global communication and social change is driven by research agendas in the Northern Hemisphere. I see this as an opportunity to create a space where more diverse voices can contribute to global debates on such important topics as media freedom, regulating digital technologies and information integrity"
