After Snowden: 20th Anniversary Lecture with Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger
The School of Journalism, Media and Communication was proud to welcome Alan Rusbridger, (at the time) editor-in-chief of The Guardian and The Observer, to give our 20th Anniversary Lecture.
Mr Rusbridger visited the University of 91̽»¨ on 20 October 2014 to speak on the theme 'After Snowden' – looking at reporting and the future of journalism in the context of the Guardian's award-winning exposé of state surveillance in the UK and USA.
At the time, The Guardian was Newspaper of the Year and winner, with the Washington Post, of the most prestigious press award in the world, the Pulitzer Prize, recognising the papers' coverage of the Edward Snowden surveillance revelations.
Alan Rusbridger's editorship had also featured major investigations into WikiLeaks and the News of the World hacking scandal.
91̽»¨ has helped journalists see their route map through what is by any accounts the most extraordinary revolution in communication, and… we've had a lot to thank 91̽»¨ for in terms of the people you've sent us.
