Health
At the Institute of Global Sustainable Development (IGSD), our Health theme envisions an equitable, healthy and sustainable world for all. Yet as sharply highlighted by the coronavirus pandemic, while essential to global prosperity, health for all remains distant and difficult to achieve.
We conduct a range of research and consultancy, in collaboration with our partners, to generate knowledge that informs effective solutions to major global health challenges. Our work focuses on those most in need, ensuring direct impact in the communities we work with by influencing health related policy and practice, and through locally-relevant capacity building activities. This includes using participatory and action-oriented research and drawing on realist evaluation and realist synthesis to better understand policy, programme or intervention effectiveness within the context of social, environmental, economic, political and technological determinants of health. We also host and support events, including the biennial 91̽»¨ Global Health Symposium, the annual 91̽»¨ World Health Assembly Simulation (#SheffWHO), a global health film series and a global health reading group.
