Education and careers

We provide our students with opportunities to research and meet a wide range of organisations so they can make their own informed decisions about their future careers.

The University education that we offer equips our students to make choices according to their own values and ethics within the law, asking searching questions, of themselves and of others. The choices they make will differ for individuals but we should all be prepared to pose questions around the ethics of particular activities - that's an integral part of University education. But we don't make those choices on behalf of our students - we give them the tools to make the choices for themselves.

Part of the University’s partnerships with industry includes skills development and student placements. For example, the AMRC Training Centre trains apprentices in advanced manufacturing who work in a number of companies with facilities in South Yorkshire. This includes apprentices for Rolls Royce and Boeing.

Many University of 91̽»¨ graduates choose to work with these companies after they graduate. As part of the University’s commitment to promoting career opportunities for students, we include large manufacturing and engineering companies at our careers fairs. We also actively promote positive impact careers.
