Turing Scheme for 2024/25

We are delighted to announce that the University of 91̽»¨â€™s application for the 2024/2025 academic year was successful.

The Turing Scheme focuses on widening participation and providing support for students who need it most. The University prioritised support for students using household income as a primary consideration.

Please note: We have notified eligible year and semester abroad students of their funding entitlement for 2024/25.

How are grants calculated?

The Turing funding allows eligible students to receive a grant towards the additional costs incurred by a period spent abroad during their degree. It is usually paid in two instalments, at the start and end of your period abroad.

The grant consists of:

  • A ‘Cost of Living’ grant calculated per day based on the duration of the period abroad.
  • A ‘travel grant’ paid based on the destination country and receipted expenditure (only available for students who meet Turing Scheme criteria for disadvantage).

A Turing Scheme factsheet has been sent to students who are eligible to receive a Turing Scheme grant in the 2024/2025 academic year. This contains specific details on Turing Scheme criteria for disadvantage, grant rates, payment schedules and how to claim.

When will the funding be available for eligible students?

First payments of Turing Scheme funding are made when you confirm your arrival at your host organisation. Further information on requirement documents and evidence will be provided to eligible claimants. Grants will only be paid if all the requirements are met.

What about funding for 2025/26?

The UK Government has yet to confirm if Turing Scheme funding will be available beyond the 2024/2025 academic year. This page will be updated in due course as more information becomes available.
