Challenge yourself

Challenges can come in many shapes and sizes and will differ depending on who you are. Why not take the opportunity to challenge yourself and fundraise for an important cause?

Running challenges are always popular - whether you want to take on your first 5K, step up your running and try for a marathon, or go for an Ultra Run, you can choose the event that suits you. 91̽»¨ puts together a team for the 91̽»¨ Half Marathon that you can join, or we can support you taking part in another race.

But don’t worry if running isn’t your thing! Here are a few alternatives to consider:

We know that marathon’s and extreme exercise challenges aren’t for everyone, but how about taking part in a different sporting challenge? You could set up a lunch time football match where each player donates £2. Or how about a penalty shootout?

For those of you who prefer other sports, why not take on a cycle, rowing or dance challenge?

Sell
Various cakes from fundraising bake sales

If sporting challenges don’t appeal to you, why not try your hand at making things - cakes, crafts, etc - and sell them in return for a charitable donation to your cause of choice? The possibilities are endless here and you can be as creative as you like! You could sell baked goods, books, plants, crafts, second hand clothes, jewellery or even sell a skill e.g. face painting!

Another great way to fundraise is by organising an evening or afternoon of entertainment! There are so many ways to do this but a few of our favourites are setting up a charity ball and auction, bingo, a film screening, a coffee and cake afternoon, a karaoke night, a quiz night, a raffle, or a scavenger hunt. Feel free to let your imagination run wild!

Please note, the University does not accept liability for personal challenges. Please make sure you have planned your activity sufficiently and are protecting your own health and safety during your challenge.

Team challenges

Don't want to go it alone? Recruit friends or colleagues and take something on together - it's a great way support each other through a daunting challenge and share a great experience. Joint events can be as simple or complex as you like, from a dress-down day at work or raffle, to a coffee morning, bake sale or sweepstakes to draw in those sports or bake-off fans.

Many of our fundraisers run some joint events alongside our organised events to help bump up their overall fundraising total as well, so don’t be afraid to combine the two.
