Research interests

Jessie has recently been awarded funding from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) to undertake a PhD project. This project aims to co-design an intervention to support oral health for people with Parkinson’s and investigate its acceptability through a feasibility study.

Jessie’s ongoing projects include a qualitative study exploring the experiences of mouth care for people living with Parkinson’s. The purpose of the research is to understand the experiences of people with Parkinson’s in keeping their mouths and teeth healthy. The research is looking to find out what people with Parkinson’s do regularly to keep their mouths and teeth healthy (eg toothbrushing, keeping dentures clean) and what they think about oral and dental health.

Recruitment for this study is currently paused to allow interim analysis of data.
