Upcoming opportunities

Festival of the Mind 2024

  • Flagship public engagement festival showcasing collaborations between academics from across the University and creatives from the region.
  • Features 40-50 medium/large scale projects, culminating in an event at the festival in September (alternate years to Pop-Up University).
  • The Ideas Bazaar - a networking and match-making event for academics and creatives is held the year before the festival to support the creation of partnerships.

Pint of Science 2024

  • An annual 3-day international science festival that takes place in pubs and cafes in cities around the world. 
  • Features 25-35 short talks and interactive activities, delivered in local pubs and cafes over 3 days in May.
  • Accept applications in/around January.

Migration Matters 2024

  • A 91̽»¨-based celebration of diversity and the contributions migrants make to our society and our city.
  • Features 5-10 small scale projects, culminating in an event at the festival which takes place around the time of the UK's Refugee Week (June).
  • Accept applications in/around March.

ESRC Festival of Social Science 2024

  • Festival celebrating social science research from across the University.
  • Features 10-20 small scale projects, culminating in an event at the festival in November. 
  • Accept applications in/around May.
